The Text merge type inserts values from your Google Sheets™ spreadsheet directly into the generated document. It is the most commonly used merge type and is ideal for names, addresses, membership numbers, descriptions, and other text-based information.
Text values preserve the formatting defined in your Google Docs™ template. This allows you to design your templates exactly as you want them to appear.
Formatting that is preserved includes:
Font styles
Font sizes
Font colors
Bold and italic text
Background colors
When a merge tag is replaced, the generated document keeps the same formatting as the original template.
Use this option to control how text values are capitalized before they are inserted into the document.
Available options include:
Preserves the original capitalization from the spreadsheet.
Example:
John Smith
Remains:
John Smith
Converts the entire value to uppercase.
Example:
John Smith
Becomes:
JOHN SMITH
Converts the entire value to lowercase.
Example:
John Smith
Becomes:
john smith
When enabled, AnyMerge Docs removes leading and trailing spaces from the source value before inserting it into the document.
For example:
" Emma Johnson "
Becomes:
"Emma Johnson"
This option is useful when spreadsheet values contain unintended spaces that could affect the appearance of generated documents.
The Text merge type provides a simple and reliable way to personalize documents while preserving the appearance and design of your templates.
