Bitly integration is optional and allows AnyMerge Docs to shorten URLs before inserting them into generated documents.
To use this feature, you need to create a Bitly Access Token and save it in the add-on. The token allows AnyMerge Docs to communicate with the Bitly API on your behalf and generate shortened links.
Shortened links are easier to read, share, and scan.
Bitly integration can be used with:
Merge as Link – shorten hyperlinks inserted into documents
Merge as Image – shorten the destination links assigned to clickable images
Merge as QR Code – shorten URLs before encoding them into QR codes
Merge as QR Code – shorten the destination links assigned to clickable QR codes
For QR codes in particular, shorter URLs often result in simpler QR codes that are easier to scan.
Create or sign in to your Bitly account.
Generate a Bitly Access Token.
Open the Settings page in AnyMerge Docs.
Paste the token into the Bitly Access Token field.
Click Save.
Once saved, Bitly options become available throughout the add-on.
Your Bitly Access Token is stored as part of your personal add-on data and is only accessible to your Google account.
AnyMerge Docs does not send, store, or share your Bitly Access Token with any third-party services other than Bitly when shortening links on your behalf.
The token is used exclusively to communicate with the Bitly API using your Bitly account.
Bitly integration is completely optional.
AnyMerge Docs works without a Bitly Access Token.
The token is only used to shorten links using your Bitly account.
If the token is missing or invalid, Bitly-related features will not be available.
Note: When shortening URLs with Bitly, make sure the original links include the protocol, such as https:// or http://. Otherwise, Bitly may return an error.

After obtaining your access token, simply save it in AnyMerge Docs to start using Bitly-powered link shortening features.
