The tutorial created a complete sample setup so you can see how AnyMerge Docs works before configuring your own documents.
The sample setup includes:
AnyMerge Docs Sample Sheet
AnyMerge Docs Sample Template
Sample Merge Mappings
Sample Output Configuration
We recommend generating a few sample documents first and reviewing the results.
Tip: You can restart the tutorial at any time from the Settings tab.
The sample sheet contains example member records. Each data row generates one document.
Each row contains:
Filename
First Name
Last Name
Membership ID
Photo
Link
After documents are generated, the add-on also writes back:
Created At - contains a timestamp when a document was generated
Document Link - contains a link to the generated document
The sample template demonstrates the major features of AnyMerge Docs.
It includes examples of:
Text merge tags
Images
Links
QR codes
Dynamic values
Merge mappings tell AnyMerge Docs how to process each merge tag.
The tutorial configured the sample mappings for you. You can review and modify them from the Sheet Configuration tab.
The sample output configuration is set up to:
Generate Google Docs™ documents
Use values from the Filename column as document names
Insert document links back into the Document Link column
Insert generation timestamps back to the Created At column
You can review and modify these settings from the Sheet Configuration tab.
Once you understand how the sample works:
Replace the sample data with your own data.
Create your own Google Docs™ template.
Configure Merge Mappings.
Review the Output Configuration.
Click GENERATE.
That's it.
One row in Google Sheets™ becomes one generated document.
